SENIOR HUMAN FACTORS MANAGER
Design Science
I specialize in human factors engineering for medical devices and drug-device combination products, with experience supporting products from early development through validation and regulatory submission. I lead formative and validation usability studies, use-related risk assessments, and human factors strategy development to help ensure products are safe, intuitive, and aligned with user needs. I enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex usability challenges and support the development of patient-centered healthcare technologies.
PRINCIPAL HUMAN FACTORS ENGINEER
Design Science
My area of expertise is human factors engineering and user-centered design in healthcare and medical device settings. I have extensive experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering and design teams to prioritize goals for human factors evaluations, generate innovative concept directions, and analyze complex usability data. Driven by a passion for exploring the crossroads of people and design, my work focuses on implementing user-centered design methods and optimizing user interface designs by integrating usability and applying ergonomic principles. Throughout my career as a consultant and engineer, I have helped clients navigate the complexities of usability goals, ensuring that medical technologies are safe, intuitive, and highly effective for end-users.
RESEARCH DIRECTOR
Design Science
Based in Munich, Germany, and operating at the intersection of US and European markets, I bring nearly two decades of experience advancing the safety and usability of medical devices and combination products including a rare dual-regulatory fluency — navigating FDA human factors guidances as well as the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) and associated ISO/IEC standards. I actively shape the future of the field by regularly speaking at conferences and by participating as a guest member of the ISO/IEC Working Group on usability (IEC 62366-1, -2). Our team partners with US, European, and Asian clients to deliver rigorous, user-centered product development from early research through regulatory submission.
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
Design Science
My specialty is helping healthcare organizations develop user-centered products and human factors strategies that improve usability, reduce risk, and support successful regulatory outcomes. Drawing on over 20 years of experience across consulting, medical device, and pharmaceutical companies, I partner with clients to navigate complex human factors challenges, align cross-functional stakeholders, and integrate the voice of the user throughout the product lifecycle. My expertise enables teams to build practical, compliant, and effective solutions that enhance healthcare experiences while supporting business objectives and safety.
